What’s the difference between cleaning and disinfecting?

Cleaning is simply the process of removing bacteria, germs, dirt and debris from a surface. Wiping down objects with a rag, for example, removes dirt and potentially some bacteria and germs, but those that remain on the surface are still alive.

Disinfecting actually kills those viruses and bacteria. We do recommend cleaning surfaces to remove as much debris and germs as possible before using disinfectant. Cleaning first makes it easier for disinfectants to do their job.

What disinfectants are effective against COVID-19?

The EPA has a list of disinfectants approved for use against the novel coronavirus. You can find the full list here. Both Renegade and Perispet are EPA-approved for use against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

What does “one step disinfectant” mean?

Both Renegade and Perisept are “one step disinfectants.” This means they clean, disinfect and deodorize in one labor-saving step. This also makes them more economical choices because they can replace other cleaning formulas.

How long does it take for disinfectants to work?

Look for dwell or contact times on your products’ labels. This indicates the amount of time a surface needs to remain wet with the solution to be effective, and it varies from formula to formula. Disinfectants may take longer to kill certain types of germs compared to others as well. For example, Renegade kills COVID-19 in just one minute and Norovirus in five.
